Each month an artist or group of artists is featured on a 12 ft section at the front of the Frame of Mind
Daniel Moore is a MFA candidate at Louisiana Tech University, and has two works on display at the Frame of Mind.
We enjoy Daniel's brushwork, simplicity and use of subtle color shifts. His work is evolving from realistic approaches to space and form, to more abstract explorations that leave the viewer questioning whether this space exists in life. Daniel balances realism with abstraction in a beautiful play of colors and light.
September's featured artists Victoria and Mashall Smith created a montage of bright colorful paintings, rockin' design and quirky attitude. The works are themed around pet peeves one could have against another. They approach their subjects with an ironic taste of humor, that keeps the work fresh.
In July and August 2016, we featured Hillary Savage, a printmaker and painter. Hillary received her BFA in Studio Art from Louisiana Tech University. She has spent time in Shreveport, Louisiana, Barcelona, Spain and more recently as an intern at New Grounds Printmaking in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her love of printmaking and print media is ever-apparent in her newest blog posts.
In May 2016, we featured Joey Slaughter. We displayed a few smaller selected works in anticipation of his up-coming exhibition at Studio 301. He is currently living in Ruston, LA, and is Associate Professor of Art at Louisiana Tech University. Recently Joey was featured on The Jealous Curator blog, appeared in Fresh Paint Magazine Vol. 12 and he was commissioned by Warner Brothers Television to produce works for Queen Sugar, an upcoming production. We are certainly proud to host such a great, noteworthy artist. Visit his website for more information.
